Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center: Get Back to the Area’s Roots

The Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center is a 300-acre nature preserve that offers area residents a place to enjoy nature — free of charge. The diverse landscapes throughout the spacious park include white sand beaches that border Spring Creek, wet swamps, and a hardwood forest, and there are more than 6 miles of wheelchair-accessible pedestrian trails that wind through each unique area.

The Jesse H. Jones Park is unique because of historic areas like the Redbud Hill Homestead, a recreation of a 1920s-area log cabin and homestead, and the Akokisa Indian village, a recreation of a local tribe’s village from the colonization era. Nature lovers will enjoy observing the different plant and animal species that call the park home, and if you want to learn more, there's a nature center on site that hosts many displays and mounted specimens of native plants and wildlife.

Throughout the year, you’ll also find annual festivals, nature camps, and clubs held throughout the preserve.
